Discover a Passion for Archaeology

Welcome to the Southern African Archaeology Student Society (SAASS), a community for students and early career professionals. Established and operated by the Southern African Archaeology Student Council (SAASC) in 2013, this society was developed to give students a voice and platform to express their ideas and thoughts on all aspects of academia and the research environment. We aim to support and encourage networking, information sharing, and collective growth and facilitate access to and share the rich history and prehistory of southern Africa.Let's share our curiosity!

About Us

This society serves as a community for students and early career professionals. It is a Southern African Development Community (SADC) organisation that allows members to network with researchers and SAASS members exposing them to heritage studies and archaeological research in the SADC region. Additionally, where possible SAASS members will be allowed to gain laboratory and practical field skills as well as funding and professional membership opportunities.
